![]() With illness, and we needed an organist who could step in at the ‘eleventh hour’. In a class of his own! – Organist Huw Tregelles Williams – saves the day! 28.6.19 Our organist, Keith Evans was incapacitated ![]() ![]() The day of the concert brought with it an unexpected event that threatened the big set pieces we had rehearsed. ![]() With the usual wine and mince pies and shortbread during the interval – plus the now highly popular raffle, the evening was a resounding success, and a great start to the festive season!Ī huge thank-you to all who contributed to this wonderful evening, which raised well over £1,400 for The Brain Tumour Charity. However, one of the highlights of the evening was the inspired idea of a Piano Trio for six hands on one piano – with our former accompanist, Joe playing alongside our current accompanists, Tezni and Richard! The Welsh Medley (by Ieuan Jones) came off wonderfully – and was such a winner with the audience. The Band’s own contribution was just right in selection and performance. The Choir gave of their very best, and the audience carols with combined forces of organ and Briton Ferry Silver Band (complete with fanfares) came off spectacularly well. It seemed fitting to focus this concert on raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity, as it was a cause close to Joe, with his mum, Susan being affected by this at the time.* It seemed an ideal opportunity to invite one of our former accompanists, Joseph Cavalli-Price to be our guest Tenor soloist for this Christmas Concert – and it turned out to be one of our best concerts yet! There was an excellent turnout of over 230 in the audience and soloist Joe charmed the audience with his relaxed style and put everyone at ease – including the Choir. We thank her for her wonderful playing and all the support she has given the Choir since she began in her role back in 2018. We have since been able to donate £1,200 to local charity ‘Me, Myself & I’ of which Rebecca Evans is a Patron, and which does such good work for Dementia sufferers and their families.Ī special thank-you also to Tezni Williams who helped us prepare the music in the run up to the concert, but had to step down just before the concert date after a number of years as our accompanist. Richard John and organist Keith Evans provided everyone with a secure accompaniment that we all needed and the whole evening was an amazing success and the audience delighted from start to finish. The wonderful Rebecca Evans was in a class of her own, and what a privilege it was to perform with her. Those choir members that had felt able to return now numbered just 30, but what an amazing effort they made and they gave their very all on the night. So, when we finally managed to get back on stage at St.David’s Church for this much delayed 10th Anniversary Concert, it was a special and poignant night in many respects. This had been a long-planned concert that we had started preparing for in 2020 – until the first lockdown hit us all in the March. 10th Anniversary Concert: 24th June 2022Īfter a two-year interval due to the Covid Pandemic, we had all been through a difficult time, which had taken its toll on so many and to various degrees.
